Steve's '94 Z28

Welcome! Ok, after a year or so, I've finally decided to update my page!
It's all about cars. My old cars and my new cars and some that I don't own. The type of racing I do is called autocross, or in SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) terms, Solo. If you've never autocrossed before, you don't know what you're missing! To find out more about with an autocross is, you can click on this link. I sold my Camaro in 2007 because it was in need of a complete overhaul which I just couldn't do right now. Beginning in 2005 I began renting a ride from Jim Murphy called a F500 (To read about those, go to eformulacarnews.com ) and running in the F Modified class. This will be the 5th year I've driven it. Out of the 4 times I've been to the National Championships in this car, I've managed to trophy in 3 of those but never the big prize, a National Championship. I'll just have to keep trying.

All of these car pages will get an update but it will be slow. So if they don't look right, hopefully they are the old pages.

I live in the suburbs of Atlanta Georgia in a place called Dacula, located in Gwinnett County, in case you wonder where all this takes place. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email to .

History...

I grew up all my life with Firebirds and Camaro's. My first F-Body was one that I had a chance to order just the way I wanted it, a brand new 1973 Brewster Green Trans Am (455, M21 4 speed, 3.42) that I got when I graduated high school. After I started school at the University of Tennessee, I discovered the school's sports car club and that is where my interest in autocross began. I've owned 7 different Firebird's and Camaro's in the following order:

All of these were autocrossed except the '73 Firebird POS (which we won't talk about) and the '68 Camaro. But most of my racing was in the '70 Ram Air III TA (mid to late '70's), '80 Turbo TA ('80-'82, I went to the SCCA Solo II Nationals in C Prepared in this street prepared car) and the '70 Formula 400 Firebird ('83-'91). The last year I raced was 1991 (until June of 2003) when I won the SE Division C Prepared Championship in the Formula. I would have loved to have gone to the Solo Nationals with it but money and time didn't permit it. <sigh>
I took about 12 years off after I had kids (my first one back, at least the first one I count, was 08/10/03) and I was very rusty, but it sure did feel good! I returned to autocrossing my 4th gen F-Body. I had a 1994 Camaro Z28 (click here for RPO Codes for my car), Medium Quasar Blue with the 4 speed automatic and 3.23 gears. It had (as of 11/12/05) around 207,700 miles on the odometer but as you can see, it still shined and pretty much drove like new. It didn't burn a drop of oil (I ran Mobil 1 5W 30) between changes. I also drove it almost 60 miles round trip a day to work. SO, when things started to fall off, I just replaced them with the good stuff! (to see what's fallen off, click here)
Starting in 2005 I've raced a F500. An F500 is basically an open wheel road race car, modified for autocross use. This one uses a Rotax 493 two stroke snowmobile engine that makes about 115 hp in autocross trim. The car weighs 830 lbs with me in it (800 lbs. is the minimum weight of car and driver per class rules). It has a continously variable transmission so there is no shifting involved. It's really a blast to drive. It will pull more than 1.8 g's in turns and will run 0-60 in about 3.8 seconds. As I re-do this site, I'll have more information and pictures. I have a few videos from the F500 taken at the SCCA National Tour at South Georgia Motorsports Park in March of '09, one is with Jim driving and two of me. The camera broke (along with the chain on the F500) on my second run. I also have several video's of my Camaro running at Turner Field along with a few of my other cars. Here is a link to all of my video's on Youtube.

Links...
I've provided some links related to 4th Gen F-Body's, autocross, and other things that I've found helpful or informative for me. I have a ton more but it's just gonna take a little time to get it here. But if you have anymore, please let me know!!
